Research Interests
My long-term goal is to contribute to a better understanding of the neural basis of decision-making processes in the human brain. Decision-making can be compromised in a broad range of brain disorders such as stroke, dementias, schizophrenia and addiction. We hope that by understanding the precise functional mechanisms underlying decision-making processes in the brain will help us in developping diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for decision-making dysfunctions.
Methods
We are using Psychophysics, Psychophysiology (skin conductance, pupil dilation) and functional neuroimaging methods (fMRI, NIRS) in our research. We are using afni, fsl, spm and freesurfer to analyze our fMRI data.
Current Projects
- Neural correlates of perceptual decision-making, Cortical representation of decision variables
- Interaction of emotion and cognition: Influence of of emotions on normative judgments, Emotion regulation and influence of stress
- Modulation of reward processing and decision-making by reward association learning; Influence of aging on this process
